The mission of this institute is to provide training to both parent leaders and professionals on a wide range of leadership and family strengthening skills. Workshops offered will move from basic to advanced. Training Credits will be assigned to the workshop depending on the length of the training and the degree of difficulty. Some workshops will be required in order to represent the Institute while others will add valuable skills that could be used in the job market. Parents Anonymous® of NJ staff will come to a site of your choice to provide training if you recruit a group of 5 volunteers or more.
Leadership training is designed for individuals who are committed to developing, supporting, facilitating or leading a Parents Anonymous® Support Group. Parent Stressline/Family Helpline training is designed for community members who want to support parents and strengthens families by volunteering to answer the line. After completing training, volunteers will be asked to take one four-hour shift each week on the Parent Stressline/Family Helpline. Thanks to a call diverter, the Stressline can be staffed from the comfort of the volunteer’s home. Training includes active listening skills, crisis intervention, and use of a statewide resource directory. In order to be certified, volunteers must attend the entire twenty-hour training.
